Volunteers in Tenafly helped load a rented Chevy van headed for Washington, D.C., with supplies for wounded soldiers Saturday. More than 100 packages were crammed into the van for the trip, which was organized by Vietnam veterans John N. Clemente and Nick Mascolo after reading about how hospitalized members of the military sometimes face several months' wait to have their personal items returned from overseas. Hundreds of individual and company donations of toiletries, clothing and laptop computers made the trip possible, Clemente said. Tenafly Mayor Peter Rustin and Rep. Scott Garrett were also on hand to help. "We appreciate all the hundreds of people who helped make this possible," Clemente said.
